I am a residential consumer of Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. I received a Notice under Sections 135(1) and 135(1A) of the Electricity Act, 2003 alleging theft of electricity. The electricity meter supplying my flat is installed in a common meter room that is not in my possession, custody, or control and remains under the control of the builder and/or Adani Electricity. Individual flat owners do not have unrestricted access to this meter room.
A smart meter was installed by Adani Electricity in Dec 2024. In Dec 2025, Adani officials alleged theft/irregularity and raised an assessment of about 7,000 units amounting to approximately ?2 lakh for nearly one year. The assessment was raised without identifying any date or time of tampering and without providing smart meter event data, inspection report, meter testing report, or calculation methodology.
meet some local lawyer and give the reply to that notice first
Check with the internal manager about this issue. And show ur payment bills to them and if you have any doubt on anyone doing so you can raise questions in the society if it's a common meter.
Give more details to get more clarity.
